https://www.onlinedatareports.com/ Scam

I should have seen it coming… I used this website — https://www.onlinedatareports.com/ — which began at www.police.us.org — and paid $1 for a background check of charges.

Three days later they tried to hit my card with a charge for $28.95, which fortunately Chase blocked.

My bad for not being more vigilant, may this post serve as a Google-able record for anyone else thinking about using this site.

Screenshot of a Chase fraud alert notification asking to confirm a purchase. The text reads "Confirm you made this purchase" for a Chase Freedom account with the last digits omitted. The transaction in question is from publicrecordshub.com for $28.95 dated 09/14. Two response options are provided: "Yes, I recognize it" with bullet points stating the card remains active and to ask the merchant to reprocess the transaction if necessary, and "No, something's wrong" with bullet points stating the current card will be closed, a new one will be issued within 5 to 7 business days, and to call the number on the back of the card for assistance.
